IN MEMORIAM
HENRY DAVID WHALEN, SR.
March 24, 1950 – August 15, 2026
“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
Thomas Campbell
Mr. Henry David Whalen, Sr. believed fiercely that education possesses the power to transform lives. And, when the opportunity presented itself, “Dave” grabbed hold of the “A. Lois Hightower-Jackson dream” and agreed to serve as Chairman of the corporation’s Scholarship Selection Committee. His exemplary advocacy and dedication are clearly shown in the twenty-four (24) scholarships our organization awarded to Kansas City metro-area high-school seniors over the past five years.
Our organization has lost a champion. And, we cannot replace such a rare display of attributes—his impressive administrative achievements and capabilities, his empathy, his immense warmth, and his genuine friendship. Today, we grieve this tremendous loss. But, in his memory, we shall endeavor to scale new heights, finding continuous comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through those students whose academic dreams became a reality because of his tireless efforts.
Rest in peace dear friend.
Sorrowfully submitted,
A Lois Hightower-Jackson, Inc. Board of Directors
Leo Jackson, President
Khouri E. Jackson, Vice President
Attorney Annette M. Jackson-Taylor, Secretary
James Coleman, Treasurer
Cynthia M. Smith, Board Member
